Mines Fined for Clean Water Violations

The owner of the Coeur and Galena Mines agreed to pay the EPA $87,000 in penalties to settle Clean Water Act violations. Director of the EPA's Office of Compliance and Enforcement in Seattle says discharge violations in the Silver Valley are especially troubling.

According to the Idaho Department of Tourism, there are two great areas in North Idaho to pick a spring bouquet.

If you head about 14 miles past Nordman an ancient cedar tree grove features beautiful trees and wide selection of wildflowers.

Another hot spot for wildflowers is the North Fork of Granite Creek.

Kootenai County Sheriff Recommending Charges In Kellogg Bus Incident

The Kootenai County Sheriff's Department announced Thursday that it would recommend battery charges against the teens involved in an attack against another student on a Kellogg High school bus.

In that incident, members of the Kellogg High girls softball team, who were returning home from an away game in Potlatch, reportedly stripped down a teammate on the bus as it was traveling past Rose Lake in Kootenai County.

North Idaho Company Unveils New Submarine

Have you ever wanted to explore the great depths of the ocean in your own personal luxury submarine?

Now, you can if you have a couple million dollars that is.

Triton Submarines LLC, based out of North Idaho recently unveiled the world's deepest diving submarine in the world.

L.Bruce Jones, CEO of Triton Subs says the Triton 36,000/3 will dive to the deepest spot in the ocean, the Challenger deep, at 36,800 feet.

The Challenger Deep is located near Guam in the Western Pacific Ocean.
