Silverwood Theme Park Rewards Readers

Any adult can tell you reading is important. A kid might be able to do the same, but in a kid's world other things are likely to take priority over opening up a book.

So Silverwood Theme Park gives children incentive to do it. Free tickets to the largest theme and water park in the Northwest to every kid that completes 10 hours of recreational reading. It's called Reading Is The Ticket and the program just reached it's $10 million mark in free donated tickets. The program began in 1999.

They're STILL Skiing On Silver Mountain

Ever heard of the Endless Summer? Well up on Silver Mountain they're still celebrating their Endless Winter, with skiing still available up on the mountain, even if the calendar says we should be getting ready for waterskiing and not snowskiing.

Silver Mountain is reporting it will be open for skiing and snowboarding this coming weekend on both Saturday and Sunday, in what they're dubbing as the "last opportunity for snow sports until the winter."

Idaho Ranks 4th in the Nation for Stress

The Gallup Poll reports Idaho is the fourth most stressed state in the nation. Word on the street, exercise is a stress buster. If you're stressed, why not hop on a bicycle? Idaho residents might kill two birds with one stone by doing so.

The latest results from the League of American Bicyclists are out. Your neighbor, the state of Washington, leads the nation for Bicycle Friendly America, an annual award. Idaho, however, is a roller coaster of emotions.

Report: Larry Marek Died Instantly In Cave-In

A preliminary accident report by the Mine Safety and Health Administration is shedding some light into the deadly cave-in at the Lucky Friday Mine that killed miner Larry Marek on April 15.

That preliminary report explains that Marek was doing dust control at the time of the cave-in, hosing down the rock that had already been blasted away from the face of stope he was working in.

Marek died instantly when he was buried underneath 30 feet of rock and fill, the report said.

Lost In The 50's Over The Weekend In Sandpoint

Poodle Skirts, Leather Jackets, Classic Cars, Food, and Fun! That was what was happening on Friday and Saturday this past weekend in Sandpoint. There were Classic Cars as far as the eye could see and in the spirit of Lost in the 50's fun people were dressed the part. There were poodle skirst, long ponytails tied in colorful scarves, slicked back hair and leather jackets.

"Wallace and the Silver Valley"

As evident from some of the reviews of Wallace, Idaho on Best of the Road, residents are very proud of their community and the surround area.
