The National Park Service is waiving all entrance fees on June 21 – the first day of summer.

Additional fee free days in 2011 are National Public Lands Day (Saturday, September 24) and Veterans Day weekend (November 11-13).

Crime Reports Map Now Available for Shoshone County

A new partnership between the Shoshone County Sheriff's Office and CrimeReports, an online crime map, has produced their own version of a crime map to cover all of Shoshone County. They're the next agency in Idaho to do so after multiple counties and cities like Pocatello and Coeur d'Alene. It went online last week and even is available through an iPhone app by CrimeReports.

Route of the Hiawatha Opens Saturday!

Pump up the bike tires and grab your helmet - one of the Inland Northwest's favorite trail rides, the Route of the Hiawatha, opens Saturday!

The June 11th opening actually marks a delay in the trail's typical season. The route usually opens from May to September, but the cool spring and heavy snowfall delayed the opening. Crews from Lookout Pass, which operates the trail, have been clearing the snow from the trailhead's highest peak to get ready for this weekend.

Brad Conner Memorial Golf Tourney Set For July 9

A memorial golf tourney, held in memory of a Special Forces soldier from Coeur d'Alene killed in Iraq, has been slated for July 9 at the Galena Ridge Golf Course.

The golf tourney is in memory of Army Sergeant Major Bradly Conner, who was serving with the 2nd Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group when he was killed in action on May 9, 2007 in Iraq.
